The more I run, the more I love.

Lemon trees and the calm sea on my side,

I look up at the sky

And warm cheering of locals
gives me energy to keep going

Every step I take brings me closer to Setoda

Charms of Setoda

The Shimanami Kaido connects six islands from Onomichi to Imabari. Setoda is located on Ikuchi Island,
the third island counting from the mainland.

The Serenity of The Beautiful Inland Sea

Feel the gentle breeze as you gaze over the scenic view of the calm sea, reflecting the shimmering
sunlight of the Seto Inland Sea.

Lemon Orchards over 100 Years Old

Setoda is the largest producer of lemons in Japan. While lemons are typically associated with summer,
they gradually transition to vibrant yellow through the winter months, reaching their peak in late February.
Enjoy the scenic view of the trees full of bright yellow lemon as you pass by these orchards.

History, Townscape, and People

Setoda has welcomed many visitors over time. Setoda's charm still lies in its nostalgic townscape and
the warm hospitality of locals who welcome visitors with open arms. In recent years, many hotels,
cafes, restaurants, and public bathhouses have newly opened. Come and experience the history,
scenery and culture of Setoda and get to know the local people during the event weekend.

Our Concepts

Bringing Setoda Together

We envision Setoda becoming one, as locals, passersby, families and friends all come together to make this event happen.
Join this event to feel, discover and experience the charm of this magical island.
We aim to create a cycle of good and meaningful relationships through the event, which will energize the entire town.

Reducing The Environmental Impact

We will review the conventional event management style and aim to create an event with a social impact.
Marathon races often generate a large amount of waste, such as plastic bottles and paper cups for water supply.
Like our previous races, we will introduce a trash-free water supply system and make it mandatory that runners carry their
own water bottle during the race. We will continue to enhance our commitment to the main concept of sustainable event management with partners who share a common environmental ideals with us.

Sports x Tourism

During the Lemon Marathon period, there will be other related events such as sightseeing and food experience for your enjoyable stay in town. In the surrounding venues, a market partnering with brands and local producers that resonate with the event concept will be held. In addition, we will host pre & post event festivals with guests, volunteers and local residents.
